SS Mary & Mathias Catholic School generally adheres to the calendar of the Muscatine Community Schools. The Muscatine Community School District is responsible for school closings, delays or early dismissals, broadcasted on KWPC (860AM) and KWPC (93.1FM). Announcements are also posted by local TV stations: KWQC (Channel 6), WQAD (Channel 8), and KLJB (Channel 18).  Email/phone/text notifications can be requested through Iowa School Alerts.

Home & School:

The Home & School Association meets regularly and includes all the parents in the school, the faculty and the principal. The group works very diligently to raise funds to support and promote the school: classroom projects, field trips, technology, library material and facility improvements.

Lunch Menu:

We are a satellite school of the Muscatine Community School District meal program.

Dress Code:

The dress code is quite simple. Any style of clothing in the J.C. Penney school uniform section of the catalog or on the internet ( under children’s – school uniform. It may be from a different store, as long as the same style can be found in the J.C. Penney catalog. 
  • Shirts (solid colors) may be worn plain or with the Saints Mary and Mathias logo.
  • School sweatshirts or t-shirts (ordered through Home and School) may be worn as part of the uniform.
  • Socks must be worn at all times.
  • Shorts must be worn under dresses and skirts.
  • Shoes must be appropriate for school. No heels, platform shoes. Boots are for wearing outside during inclement weather. No boots are to be worn inside building as regular shoes. Shoes must cover the entire foot. Children must wear appropriate gym shoes for PE classes.
  • Non-uniform days:  Students must be appropriately dressed (no inappropriate pictures or words on shirts, no tank tops, no spaghetti strap or strapless tops, and shorts, skirts, dresses must be an appropriate length).
Unusual or inappropriate haircuts will not be allowed (Ex: Mohawk haircut).
